Budapest Day 2
I was pretty sleepy this morning because some guy was playing guitar when I was trying to sleep in the hostel. Sabrina and I were up early and went to a gluten free bakery. They had all sorts of treats I was missing so I went a little wild with the cakes. The food is so cheap here! It only cost me $10 CAD for all sorts of goodies and a loaf of bread! At home an artisan gluten free loaf costs $6-10 dollars for perspective.
Once I was filled to the brim with bread and cake we went to get breakfast for Sabrina. After breakfast we met up with Sophie and headed to the famous Budapest baths. There are quite a few to pick from but the most classic and touristy are the Szechenyi Spa Baths. I know they are a bit over photographed but I LOVED THEM! I thought it was amazing. They are a series of indoor and outdoor thermal baths.
It is sort of like going to your local pool, you get changed, have a little shower and then can hop right in. EVERYONE MUST be wearing a swimsuit. I know some may assume it is a naked bath, and they used to be but with the rise of their popularity with tourist they made suits required.
I don’t think many people realize but it is not just the one bath outside, everyone takes photos in the outdoor pools but the buildings surrounding the outdoor baths contain various baths of different size and temperature. The place is HUGE! They even have saunas, ice baths and many available spa services. Amazing!
In the evening we went back from more burgers and then to kill time in coffee shops before catching our night bus. Thats right, we are geniuses and booked an over night bus from 11:50pm to 5:50am to get to Prague. By 9:30 I was already exhausted and starting to lose it. My head hurt, I was struggling to stay awake and honestly getting grumpy.
I just about lost it when I realized that I left my neck pillow (which Sabrina was lending me) for the bus at the LAST COFFEE SHOP! I dragged that thing around all this time, and seriously left it at the last conceivable place before the bus. Oh wow, that was a blow to my sanity. This is going to be an interesting bus ride.
