Marilyn Munroe is something else
Today’s class was a snoozer again but we got to leave early which was a blessing because I got to enjoy some daylight on the way home. I shopped at mono prix again then watched Something’s Gotta Give with Marilyn Monroe and Dean Martin.
When I clicked the video I thought it was weird the movie is only 40 minutes... I was loving it and then it just completely cut off... damn. I assumed it was because I was watching it on YouTube but then I searched it up and I guess they never completed the movie! Marilyn ran into personal issues and they stopped production. They tried to start it back up but she passed away. CLICK FOR MORE ABOUT THE MOVIE
I always thought she was killed by someone in her inner circle but apparently she died of a barbiturate overdose in a presumed suicide. I sort of have a hard time believing all of the blame should fall on her, she was surrounded by people who push stars to the limits. I was watching a documentary on old Hollywood stars and it seems like it was very common that doctors pumped them with a heavy dose of anti anxiety medication and other pill concoctions. I know that Judy Garland was on a serious regime of prescription pills to keep her weight down, and to keep her going and the level she was expected to perform. She struggled for years with health issues and dependancies and it’s just all so tragic in my mind because I have always looked up to and glamorized these starlets but I think their lives were much harder than we are supposed to believe.
I still love them all and am crazy about watching old movies. There is something so interesting about the way they lived life and the way they spoke to one another.
Anyways…
Later at night me and my roommates went out to a local bar and then met up wth other SKEMA students. We had really good time and made some new friends. The bars in Antibes seem to close pretty early so we all hung-out at the people from McGills house and socialized then went to bed.
