WFH - Work from heaven
I must have had a deep sleep last night because I actually had a dream I could remember! It didn’t make any sense, just about a family run rollercoaster? Who knows but jeez did I appreciate sleeping in a room alone after a week of hostel rooms.
I signed up for a morning yoga class… which felt like a semi “hot yoga” class because even at 8 am it is warm here. I really enjoyed it, I am super stiff after all the exercise this week and many months of not prioritizing stretching. Yoga memberships can be expensive but yoga alone at home just does not do it for me so maybe I need to partner up with some friends who have yoga expertise to get some outside classes going again, or group stretching with our friend group to make it fun!
This is my first day back to work after vacation so I paid the $10 to use the air conditioned co-working space here at the hostel. What a great choice, I got to be around other people, enjoy a nice view of the ocean and birds flying around, it really felt like a luxury kind of work from home day.
For lunch I went across the street for some nachos and took my laptop to read a Leadership Book our company has asked we read, it is called “Leadership and Self-Deception”. So far it’s good, mostly focused on mindset and awareness of your perspective. The first chapter is about not knowing you have a problem vs blaming others. Nothing groundbreaking for me so far but I’m keeping an open mind and it is a good reminder to think outside of yourself and to take ownership.
I am working late today because we had a 3 hour Mastermind call titled “High Ticket Offer Creation and Optimization” that I needed to host. High ticket offers are basically offerings that exceed a price point, depending on the niche that price is variable but generally when we talk about it its $500 min but usually more around $5000 - 100k +. It was interesting to see how these are put together and the different options such as retreats.
Once I finish this post I am free for the night so I will either see if there are people hanging around to chat with or if I’m not up for socializing I will get my swim suit on and take a night swim in the pool. What a lifestyle!
So far I have been good at chatting with people but I’m finding it a bit tough to really “make friends” since its not like I can jump in for day time adventures. This is a great learning experience for me on how to put myself out there while there really is no pressure to do so since I have been socializing non stop for a week straight. If this ends up being 4 days of some solo relaxing and working with a view I am happy about that as well!
Update: I decided to go to the karaoke at the hostel. To give me some time to scope the room I went to a bar and got a mojito, once I had my drink I was thinking oh jeez where am I going to sit but I spotted a chair by some girls that was empty so I asked them if I could sit there.
They were actually super nice, 2 were Dutch and 2 were Canadians (Ontario). The Dutch girls sang a song in Dutch and I did not recognize it at all hahaha. Then the Canadians (including me) went up and did Sweet Caroline. It was fun, they invited me to come to Pilates in the morning tomorrow so I will be getting up early again to stretch!
